It’s Monday, I’m back in the office and suffering from a serious case of the Badminton Blues.
What a year it was for the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, and the weather could not have been more perfect. Of all the events, I especially love Badminton. The atmosphere is electric, the venue is simply stunning, and the shopping speaks for itself.
Badminton is an amazing venue, there’s no doubt about that. The weather this year made it extra special with the sun shinning and the drinks flowing, whilst spectators were able to watch some world class riding. Seriously, what more could an equestrian want?
Mr Chip certainly enjoyed himself too.
Whilst there was so many highlights, one of mine was going ‘back stage’ to meet the horses and riders taking part.
Boots – The Spanish Boot Company – available here.
We took a walk to the stable area, where I was blown away by the horses and yard. It was fascinating to see the operations which go on behind the scenes to keep the horses in peak condition over the course of the event.
Belt – Pampeano – available here.
The Trot Up
As always, the Trot Up was a fashion show with the riders looking just as smart as the horses.
Riders who were particularly ‘well shod’ included Ben Hobday; shod in Fairfax and Favor and suited in Holland and Cooper. Zara Tindall (Phillips) was also dressed in Holland and Cooper, whilst the youngest competitor, Emily King, went for a slim fitted orange dress.
Paul ‘dapper’ Tapner maintained his stylish reputation wearing beige chinos, a blue jacket with matching waistcoat, and a red bow tie.
Badminton may be over for another year, but I’m sure this years’ event in particular will remain firmly fixed in peoples’ minds for being a great year for the infamous Badminton Horse Trials.
Did you go to the event? Did you enjoy it as much as we did? What was your personal highlight?
Love Abi x
