Since I completed my interiors course back in December, I have felt much more confident making decisions regarding the house and it’s also made me a little bolder and prepared to take a few more interior related risks! One thing we have done is kept to a tight budget and I’m really proud that we have hardly bought anything new for the house, all of our furniture has been purchased second hand. I love having second hand furniture, its far more interesting and often much better quality compared to buying new.
Anyway, it’s been a pretty busy few months, here’s what we’ve been up to:
- Our single room has been restyled – I will soon write a post about it. I’m super happy with the result – but still undecided about whether or not we should paint the floorboards white?
- We updated our kitchenette. We went for a navy kitchen from Howdens and white matt quartz worktops (I really don’t like shinny ones!). I must admit the worktops were a bit of a faff but I am super happy we went with them. I absolutely adore the gold tap I found. It took me ages to find one I like but I finally tracked one down on Amazon. The brass door handles from The Foundry Man are also a real favourite. They really pop against the navy door and bring some class to the kitchen.
- I finally got a pink door!
- The wonderful Lizzie Churchill came and took some more photos of the house as it has changed quite a bit in the last few months. You can see some of the photos she took below.

I finally got my hands on a Loaf velvet sofa which I think has made this room. It’s a massive hit with Wilf too!
I was delighted to find this drawing of a white stallion in a local auction, it is an original and I paid just £20 for it!
Gorgeous french inspired stripe grainsack cushions below are from Maison Brocante.
Over the next few months we will be turning our attention to sorting the garden and getting the house ready to let for the summer season.
Are you interiors mad? I’d love to hear your renovation/interiors stories!
