It was about time we welcomed a junior rider to the blog. It’s great to welcome 15 yo Show Jumper, Poppy Burford, as this month’s guest blogger.
Secret (Secret Service)
Hi! I am Poppy Burford and I turned 15 in July. I live in Penzance, at the bottom of Cornwall. My favourite hobbie is riding! I am a competitive rider, and compete most weekends. I showjump BS, but also do the occasional ODE or hunter trial. I have a new pony, called Mary (Speculate). She was produced beautifully but unfortunately got into the wrong hands afterwards and has had a rough time; I am hoping to gain her confidence to get her back to where she was, build a bond with her and jump the big tracks she is very capable of. I am still getting used to her, but we have been jumping double clears Discovery and Newcomers.

On Saturday we did our first ODE, unfortunately it was in torrential rain which is as per for Cornwall. My forte is definitely not dressage yet we got an okay score of 32. She jumped very carefully in the mud, to produce a double clear. She came 5th overall.
Secret Service (stable name ‘Secret’), is a pony I am riding for Lucy Hardy. He did the best dressage he could do in the weather, scoring a really pleasing 27.5. We had one pole show jumping, but clear XC to win! I managed to break the top of the trophy within the first five mins.
